Warhammer: Skaven

My most painted and generally most sensible army (odd as that is to say about an army of deranged mutant rats). Not many really major conversions. Just lots of troops to practice my speed painting and general techniques on. Intended to be a good tournament army. Probably better from an army design point of view than my Knights but will not end up as pretty.

    Ikit Claw
    Should be the prettiest. but frankly I don't need a lord yet. I'm more likely to play 1000pt than 2250 or 3000 pointers. So he'll probably stay at this level and occasionally slum it as warlock engineer until the swarm grows, then I'll finish him off.
    Warlock Engineer
    The most finished of them all. My main testbed. Still not happy to put up to coolminiornot yet. Mainly cos I dropped him while photoing. :-P. and so need to touch up a few flakes.

    Champ with bands of power and twin weaps. He was sent to enforce councils will and observe.
    Acts as the main martial advisor. Ikit is trying to build up Skryres skills so they don't need to rely upon the other great clans. Ikit has convinced and flattered the agent (and maybe a little magic) into following his cause as much as the council, and he has seen Ikit summon a Verminlord, which will sway pretty much any skaven.
    Red Regiment
    Core 'normal' clanrats. Usually joined by the chieftan.
    Blue Regiment
    The personal guard of the Grey seer. Shields, spears, heavier armour. Used by the clanrats as a way of advancing themselves.
    Light Regiment
    Models crossover with the night and gutter runners.
    Adept Regiment
    Skryre clanrats on their way to becoming Engineers. Partly equiped with an engineers weapons they have made. Some partly borged. Modelwise a good amount of crossover between this regiment and the crazies. Basically these guys have shields instead of two hand weapons, but can be used to bulk out each other.
    Slaves
    Ninjas
    These are the Black ninjas. Mostly used as the tunneling team.
    Ninjas
    The Elite Guard! Red ninjas led by Tytyson. Masters of their various weapons they are often used to train the clan rats in the ways of battle, especially their picked warriors of the light regiment. The two 'assasins' act as if they are the equal of the Eshin masters and while they are more than capable of slitting a few sleeping throats and flinging poison blades in battle they certainly take care that the Eshin never hear of them (for the good of Ikits plans of course).

    Skryre Hack and Crazies (Plague Monks)
    Crazies. Injured skaven who were set to work on by Skryre Hacks (surgeons). Also joined by a few Adepts often who have gone a bit far with their experiments.
    Treat as Plague Monks. Tougher due to feel no pain and cyborg parts. Frenzy due to drugs, control implants and pain.

    Some of the crazies truely take to the life of the crazy as a philosophy. Going madly into battle, glorying in the power your upgrades have given you. More power than an Orc all from a little skaven. As they get injured they only get more upgrades. And the more you survive the more you get. The more you kill. The one life against the many deaths. Some of the oldest crazies believe they are now immortal like the hundred of year old grey seers, not like the normal 4 year span of a small pale fur. They learn as much as the hack about maintaining their many implants and about the skryre science of cyberhacking.

    These replace more and more of the bodies in warpstone powered implants. Anything they touch or even come near is shreaded with slashing cyborg claws and warp lightning fields. The only trouble is being skaven technology it's less than stable. Prone to breakdowns. Paralysing or electrocuting the ratborg.
    Treat as Plague Censor bearers. Lightning shocks to all in contact.

    In the books skaven are always using crossbows but they don't have the option in the game. Crossbows do seem pretty skaven, nice flat trajectory for clearing tunnels. Plus they look cool. So the skryre nightrunner slingers have a few other missile weapons in their unit.

    Jezz hang back, guarded by one night squad
    kill giants, chariots, fliers, in general anything with speed or armour.
    
    other night squad gets close to enemy to break marches etc and harrasses with slings
    slaves take charge and hopefully break leaving enemy in open.
    warlocks lightning and shoot as enemy approach. use any block ie slaves,1 or 2 as shields
    Main squad tries to tempt charges to ratling gun. warlocks back off to weaken next.
    2nd squad tries to slam into the side. (give them spears?)
    Ogres hit sides especially armoured, never alone, eg with 2nd squad, min size 2 to negate rank

    have been influenced by chaos band who believe in varient of tzeentch based on evolution, personal and social
    clan believe the chaos band have started to understand the horned rat and are trying to help sway them in that direction, but the influence is going both ways.
